Model
United Nations
Since 2009, over 1,000 HTMCV alumni have proudly served as Ambassadors to the Model United Nations to hone skills in diplomacy, negotiation, critical thinking, compromise, public speaking, writing, and research.
Essential Questions
-
How does the United Nations influence international relations and events?
-
How can we inspire change in the communities we are a part of?

What We Did
For five weeks, HTMCV seventh and eighth graders were immersed in a simulation of the proceedings of the United Nations. Students were assigned countries, which they represented in their appointed Committees. Every week, we critically analyzed both local and global current events to inform our work. We engaged in a research-based writing process to produce Position Policy Papers and formal speeches. Delegates participated in a two-day Conference to debate and arrive at peaceful resolutions to the issues listed below:
GENERAL ASSEMBLY
ZERO HUNGER
WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION
VACCINES
UN ECONOMIC
& FINANCIAL
POVERTY

WOMEN
GENDER EQUALITY
HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL
